Action FM was formed in August 2006, growing out of a 'multi-lateral FM working party' that was created following an industry roundtable organised the previous June by i-FM. The aim of that event was to engage a wide audience of influencers from the industry to determine how the various stakeholders could be brought together to improve communication and collaboration with a common goal: the promotion of the discipline and practice of FM to a wider business audience. The working party was formed and quickly established that a new collaborative forum was required to most effectively achieve this goal. Action FM was initially chaired by Mike Cant, Director of Larch Consulting and Chairman of RICS FM Faculty. Mike was succeeded as chair by Maurice Tidy, Director General of the Facilities Management Association, in January 2007. Maurice was succeeded by Derek Paxman of the Centre for Facilities Consultancy. Chairmanship of the group will continue to change periodically.
